The incumbent will be responsible for supervising the UF Health histocompatibility laboratory. This lab serves the UF Health solid organ and hematopoietic stem transplantation programs as well as serving as the HLA typing laboratory for the LifeQuest organ procurement organization. Laboratory testing includes flow and CDC crossmatches, HLA antibody assays, STR analysis and HLA typing by SSP, SSOP and sequencing technologies. Strong technical and communication skills are required. The technical coordinator will work closely with the laboratory medical director and regularly communicate with transplant coordinators and physicians. The position includes management of day to day operations including administrative and technical support, review of test results, problem resolution, financial management, etc.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Human resource management (hiring/firing, performance evaluations, etc.)
- Budget development (in conjunction with the Manager) and budget monitoring
- Supervision of specimen collection requirements, accessioning, and preparation of specimens for analysis, testing and reporting
- Test development and new procedure implementation
- Performing analytical procedures when required
- Quality Assurance functions including data collection, analysis and reporting
- Maintenance of laboratory accreditation including proficiency testing and inspection preparation.
