Job Opening Summary

 

Manage high dollar outpatient service accounts for the facility to ensure financial reimbursement. Assigned to services with complex procedures, these accounts require initial authorization and either constant monitoring for re-authorization of services or spontaneous changing of procedures. Perform referral processing, registration, authorization/precertification as required and until treatment is complete, Point of Service Collections and posting within Epic or appropriate system, financial counseling, including referring patient to appropriate area(s) for assistance, calculates patient financial responsibility and provides estimate, monitor and maintain applicable EPIC work queues, maintains and balances EPIC cash drawer daily.  Secures approvals from third party payers by providing detailed clinical information and/or coordinating peer-to-peer reviews. Secures signatures on regulatory documents. Represents the Financial Division as a member of various intra-operational teams, providing financial perspectives required to make treatment or rescheduling decisions.

Job Opening Qualifications

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent is required. College degree or related course work desired. Minimum of 1 year experience as a financial specialist/counselor required or 3 years of relative experience. A working knowledge of medical and insurance industry terminology is required. Must have experience which demonstrates ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, recognize and react to changing priorities, make timely and accurate judgement decisions. Effectively communicates with the health-care professionals and work independent of direct supervision. Proficiency in applications as well as demonstrated ability to work with multiple computer systems is required. Must be able to demonstrate exceptional verbal, analytical and written communication skills. Must be adaptable, tactful and able to work well under pressure. Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with critical or unusual situations. Applicant must demonstrate an understanding of “first impression” position and the need for appropriate dress, attitude and concern with the position.
