Job Opening Summary

 

The Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenator (ECMO) Lead, must have excellent verbal and written communication, strong attention to detail, ability to work in all patient populations and well organized. ECMO Lead will be responsible for the management of the ECMO team as far as; daily staffing and assignments, ensuring correct back up equipment is accessible, supplies are stocked and readily available, performing training for ECMO Specialists according to UF Health ECMO policy, assist with the updating and/or creation of policies for the ECMO team and be able to perform the job duties of the ECMO Specialist. Additional responsibilities will be to adjust and create staff schedules for the ECMO Specialist team, assist in the review and tracking of quality improvement initiatives reported to the ECMO Coordinator, respond to Emergency Cardiopulmonary Resuscitations (eCPR), ensuring equipment is ready and available, and assure the ECMO Coordinator and hospital administration are notified of any staffing or resource concerns.

Job Opening Qualifications

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements::
An ECMO Lead will need to be an ECMO Primer with at least one-year experience and proficient in troubleshooting common day to day complications of ECMO runs. Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy or Registered Nurse program, with current State of Florida licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Registered Nurse.  A minimum of one-year experience as an ECMO Primer.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation (Required): (Refer to CP 1.51):

Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose

NOTE:  A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile
a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.

Licensure/Certification/Registration::
Required:
A. Basic Life Support
B. PALS (may be obtained within 6 weeks of hire)
